Elite Sport

Entry Requirements

Our Elite Sport team work with individuals who require bespoke programmes to balance elite sport with their education.

To be in this position we would expect performers to be recommended to us by a National Governing Body, Centre of Excellence or similar organisation, or be at, or very close to, international level within their sport.

BTEC Level 2:
Four GCSEs at grade D or above, one being English Language or Maths or a similar L2 qualification. Opportunities to achieve these entry criteria can be provided.

BTEC Level 3:
Subsidiary Diploma – 4 GCSEs at grade C or above including Maths or English Language, or a similar L2 qualification, or a relevant BTEC Level 2 Diploma.

L3 Diploma or L3 Extended Diploma – 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English Language and Maths, or a similar L2 qualification.

A Level:
The minimum entry requirements are 5 GCSEs at grade A* to C, in appropriate academic subjects. This is to include English Language and Mathematics. There are additional entry requirements for some subjects. Individual circumstances may be taken in to consideration.

Subject Special Entry Requirement:

  • Human Biology: B/B in two science subjects (Core and Additional Science or Biology plus another) or
    B/C in two sciences as above with a B in Maths
  • English Literature B or above in English Language and Literature

All applicants will complete an online subject specific introduction lesson including an English and Mathematics diagnostic (depending on subject studying). You will also have a face-to-face or telephone interview where we are looking for learners to demonstrate their commitment and self-motivation to learn independently.

Foundation Degree in Sports Science

Normally 5 GCSE’s at grade C or above including English Language and Mathematics (or Functional / Skills level 2 equivalents), plus one of the following: 240 UCAS points from GCE/VCE A levels (excluding General Studies) or BTEC level 3 qualifications; an Access to HE Diploma / Certificate. We welcome applications from mature students over the age of 21, and may be flexible in our normal offer if you show a commitment to succeed and have the relevant skills and experience. In addition to this, an interview will be required for all applicants to assess suitability for a course.
